In Memoriam

In Loving Memory of Juan De Leon,
July 1949-2025
Juan De León lived a life marked by faith, perseverance, and unwavering devotion to the gospel. A pastor, evangelist, educator, and church planter, he poured himself out in service to God and to people across nations. His story is one of transformation, lifelong learning, and sacrificial love, a testimony to what God can do through a willing heart and a steadfast servant.

Juan De León was a pastor, evangelist, and church planter whose ministry left a lasting imprint across the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and the United States. Coming to the Lord in his twenties, Juan embraced his faith with deep seriousness and devotion. From the moment of his conversion, he committed himself to learning the Scriptures and, more importantly,
to living them out with integrity and conviction.

The Lord blessed Juan with a beautiful family. From his first marriage, he became the father of five sons: Jonas, Juan, Eliezer, and Jeremías. Later, through his marriage to his beloved wife of more than 30 years, María Elena, he welcomed Isaac and Saray. María Elena was not only his life partner but also his faithful companion in ministry, standing beside him through decades of service, sacrifice, and mission.

Juan’s passion for the gospel took him far beyond the walls of any single church. He preached throughout the Dominican Republic, ministered in Costa Rica, and shared God’s Word in the United States. His heart burned for evangelism, discipleship, and the strengthening of local churches.

A lifelong learner and dedicated educator, Juan embodied the belief that growth has no age limit. While teaching 6th grade, he simultaneously completed his own high school education through an adult program, eventually becoming both a teacher and the director of that very program. In his fifties, he earned a law degree, and in his sixties, he completed a master’s degree in theology. His academic journey was a testimony to perseverance, discipline,
and a mind continually seeking wisdom.

Communication was one of Juan’s greatest joys. He became an international conference speaker, invited to share biblical and educational insights in Costa Rica, the United States,
and the Dominican Republic. He also loved radio, contributing to programs across multiple stations, always with a focus on Scripture, learning, and spiritual formation.

Above all, Juan loved people. At his core, he was a shepherd, faithful, honorable, and deeply committed to the flock entrusted to him. He served his congregation with humility and sacrifice, raising up leaders who today serve around the world as pastors, missionaries, and church planters. His influence continues through the lives he shaped and the ministries he helped birth, including Relevant International Missions.

Juan was deeply respected and immeasurably loved by his sons, daughter, grandchildren,
and all who were blessed to know him. His life reflected the words of the Apostle Paul:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

2 Timothy 4:7
We praise God for a life well lived, a life poured out for Christ, His church, and His kingdom.
